Kharoof-Traditional Arabic Meal stuffed with baby Lamb with Rice

Kharoof Mahshi is an oven-roasted whole baby lamb that has been seasoned with spices both inside and out, packed with biryani rice and minced meat, almonds, pistachios, pine nuts, and a variety of spices. This meal is popular throughout the Arab world and is eaten at important events such as weddings, Eid, and family gatherings. A single dish serves 6 to 8 people.

The dish’s origin is primarily associated to Bahrain, despite the fact that it is practically identical to other Saudi Arabian culinary dishes and the taste with the stuffing, fried dry-fruits is just exquisite. During Ramadan, most hotel restaurants in my neighborhood serve this really delicious stuffed Lamb feast at Iftar. The meal is presented in a huge plate with biryani rice and roasted lamb in the heart topped with fried nuts.

In my neighborhood, the following restaurants provide some of the finest Kharoof meals and even arrange orders for functions:

Assalamu Alaikum @fasi6083 ,

Thanks you sharing with us! This Kharouf looks beautiful and delicious, though i have never tried one… Here in Nigeria, we are used to having rice with stew or jellof instead. But i noticed that’s filled with different spices

I learnt that it’s an Arabian culture for all to eat from the same plate, is that still practiced?

@fasi6083 I just know about biryani rice, it is a bit long compared to Vietnamese rice.

I guess the taste of dish is super great!

Walaikum Assalam @Nuhuu Yes, the same custom of eating from the same plate with hands rather than spoons is still practiced.

Yes, the dish tasted wonderful, and the portion size was generous enough for both lunch and dinner @Kian1510
