Keris Ancient Dagger Private Collection

Do you know Keris?

explain about it a little bit, in my own words. Disclaimer: Im not Curator, historican, or archeologist.

Let me

Keris is a dagger, its kind like a blade, but It had many purposes. Two of purposes that I knew, are

1. Power symbol or Icon Symbol
2. Combat purpose

Keris has different design based on the area in Indonesia. Usually they have spiritual powers, only ancestors can explain it. Sorry I cant, in here Im just represent my father collections, He inherited those collections, and now me and my brother inherit the Keris.

Cleaning Process Ritual, called Keris Bath.

Rendy, my cousin, can treat the Keris for oilment. He said, Keris must be oiled for preserve the blade from rusty. Some of the Keris made of special Stone from Meteor. The other purpose of oilment is for spiritual purpose. We called the annual oilment as Keris BATH.

You can see in videos there are 2 times we did the ritual, once in my mom house, the other in my brother’s house. The collection in my brother’s possesion are long and big Keris. The first video has English Translation.

After cleaning, we put back to the special cupboard.

oh this is 2 books about Keris that I found on my father’s possesion, I remember it would be more, I will find it.

I hope you enjoy the story of my dad’s collection.

Very interesting and informative post, dear @Ddimitra .

No, I don’t know about Keris…but familiar with Family Swards.

Both the videos are beautiful.

Ancestral collections are very important.

Bathing these swards…is it once in an year or some special days?

Yes, it will be worth to explore the books of your father’s collections.

I sincerely appreciate your efforts on this post - thanks for sharing with us.

Best wishes…

I like reading this in your voice :kissing_closed_eyes:

I understand you putting out those disclaimers. Our families are so rich in ancient cultures and traditions that once upon a time, I decided to get my dad to share all of it in a place I could store; YouTube.

We did the first episode, then, my mum and sister convinced him ‘not to’, that I was about to expose details about our family.

I Was very sad :pensive: :worried:

You are lucky to have a book to read about it. My father has a sword too, the last time I saw it, I was very young, I have never asked him about it, also, I have never seen him cleaning it too.

Thank you for sharing about this. They don’t look old one bit and it’s good to see your brother @Ddimitra

Halo mom @Ddimitra

A very informative post @Ddimitra

Here we have a special day known as Ayudha Pooja, to clean and offer prayers to all instruments and weapons. I remember a few things from my grandfather’s collection. My father’s collections didn’t have any weapons.

Thanks for sharing this information.
