Kerala Travel Diary🌴

2 days in God’s Own Country Kerala

We started our train journey from Mumbai and reached Kochi and then took a cab till our hotel in Munnar.

Day 1

Birds Valley Resort & Spa Munnar

Birds Valley Resort is the perfect place to enjoy your vacations. The staff at the reception was very helpful and our check in was really quick. The hotel is spread over a wide area and most of the rooms are at a climb thus the hotel provides a jeep for commuting from one place to another. With regard to room you have 3 choices - pool view, valley view or mountain view. We choose the mountains. The cottage house was very spacious and well furnished. Room amenities include AC, TV and a refrigerator.

We spent first half of the day in the hotel itself as due to some local strike we were advised to stay in. So we decided to just chill and relax by the pool.

Tea Plantations

In the evening we went to see the tea plantations which was a popular tourist attraction and was near to our hotel.

Day 2

After enjoying a scrumptious complimentary breakfast at the Resort we left for Alleppey.

Valanjamkanam Waterfall

On the way to Alleppey we decided to drop by the Valanjamkanam Waterfall. Surrounded by greenery on all sides, it made a perfect place for a stopover. Besides this waterfall is right in the middle of the road so you can just pullover and enjoy the beautiful view and click lots of pictures.

Spice Garden and Elephant Ride in Thekkady

Next we took an Elephant Ride through the Spice Garden in Thekkady. The guide toured us and gave us information about the different spices. After enjoying the amazing Elephant Ride we left for Alleppey.

Alleppey Backwaters

Popularly known as the Venice of the east, Alleppey is famous for its beautiful and serene backwaters. This was my first houseboat experience and I must say indeed a memorable one. We got a chance to enjoy the authentic Keralite food all thanks to the in-house cook. We spent our last day in this beautiful place by cruising along the calm backwaters in the embrace of nature.

We left for Mumbai with lots of beautiful pictures and memories for a lifetime.

Hi @meghanajain , being from Kerala, I enjoyed reading your post about your visit! You pretty much chose the best places to visit since your trip was for just 2 days. Next time try adding Kochi, Calicut and Kannur in your list to explore more of the cultural side. (and perfect if you’re a foodie)
