The Rudraprayag area in Uttarakhand, India, is home to the Hindu temple Kedarnath Temple. It is one of the four holy sanctuaries in Hinduism known as Char Dham collectively. On the banks of the Mandakini river, the temple honors Lord Shiva and is located at a height of 3,583 meters (11,755 feet) above sea level.
Adi Shankaracharya is credited for restoring the temple, which is thought to have been constructed by the Pandavas during the Mahabharata period. The temple has undergone several renovations over the years, with the most recent one being following the devastation of the 2013 floods.
One of the holiest pilgrimage places for Hindus and Buddhists is the Kedarnath Temple.
