Kampung Long Luping: Here i want to go again.

School Coders is one of my social initiative for promoting STEM education in rural area. As part of that, I went to SK long luping last week. The school is located in Kampung Long Luping, Lawas, Sarawak. Kampung means village.

For the first time in my life I had such an amazing travel experience. Kampung Long Luping is 2.5 hour drive from Lawas airport. Lawas is a small frontier town in the northeastern corner of Sarawak state in East Malaysia. The town is located in a strip of Sarawak territory sandwiched between the Temburong district of Brunei and Malaysia’s Sabah state. Bangladeshi Passport holder need special permission to go to Sarawak. Since I went on behalf of the Commonwealth Youth Innovation Hub, my permission was arranged by the Ministry of Works.
The organizers have told that my travel as a local guide will be very different and excited. I was accompanied by the Local Guide Kabilan from Malaysia.

We fly from Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 to Miri Airport on an Air Asia morning flight. After 2.5 hours flight arraived in Miri, Sarawak airpot. Two more ministry officials joined us in Miri.

Then our next destination was Lawas Airport. Lawas has an airport which is served by the rural air service provided by MASWings. On the plane I give them ideas about local guides program.

When I have post about my trip to Malaysia Local Guides whtasapp group than Local Guides David have shared his experience. He asked me that: " Have you weighed your baggage and also yourself? And the flight is via a Twin otter DH-9, so no stewardesses ya! Make sure you got the first seat. so you can talk to the captain during flight! lol. " and he also shared one of his picture he is talking with the captain.
I followed him and got the first seat. It was the first experience of my life that flying on a very small flight.

Then our next destination was Kampung Long Luping. From Lawas airpot we started our road trip by toyota hilux and the organizers arranged for Home Stay for the night. After the mid-way, heavy rains started but but our excitement didn’t stop. We reach Long Luping with a remarkable hill road. Landscapes on both sides of the road were very enjoyable.

We were there for about a week.

After about three hours remarkable hill road trip we reached Kampung Long Luping. When we arrived it was 7.30 pm o’clock in the evening but it seemed like deep night. There was no mobile network from Lawas to Long Luping. Suddenly I got a network on my mobile and I have call @SumaiyaZafrin and told her we have arrived.

The organizers said that the satellite internet has been arranged for us at school. I was very hungry. The school authorities arranged dinner for us and we enjoyed the food lot. Our home-stay was a two-story house on the hill. We have to wake up in the morning so we went to sleep fast.

The next morning, we started walking to SK Long Luping (school). On arriving at the school, it seemed that we had come to a different Malaysia and Its an Impossibly beautiful school campus.

I conducted 6 coding sessions in this school by 3 days. My session was CS First with Google, HTML, Auto Draw and scratch programming. In one of my sessions, I showed them the world tour with Google Maps Street View. The students were very excitable to see their favorite places on Google maps.

The headmaster of the school brings us to explore the village. We also visited SK Long Semadoh. We are impressed with their hospitality. The natural beauty of the village is hard to explain in the picture. I enjoyed being fascinated.

After staying about a week in the village I fell in love with this village. The headmaster of the school said sometimes the flight can be canceled for rain. It will be good if we can reach early at Lawas airport. We arrive at the airport just in time. From Lawas airport we come to Mary Airport. During Miri to Kuala Lumpur flight we got sufficient time for exploring Miri.

Whenever I go to a new place, I try to buy a souvenir. In Miri, I went to a local mall and brought a few gifts for Sumaiya. We had dinner at the airport.

We reached Kuala Lumpur International airport on a very deep night and reached at my house last night. In the morning, I have to pack bags immediately because of my flight again in the morning for the next destination. It’s time for flyingâ€Ļâ€Ļâ€Ļ

So many things i wanted to share but I want you to travel to Sarawak once and my travel video coming soon.
Stay tuned for the next travel story from another country.

Hi @PavelSarwar ,

Thanks for sharing your journey to those wonderful places!

It looked to be very beautiful there and it’s great that you had the opportunity to visit such places. They sound to me very far away from my country and like at the end of the world and that’s the most adventurous.

I will wait for the whole story because I am very curious about it. :slightly_smiling_face:
