Thank you so much for your reply, @Khanabadosh1986 ! I didn’t know that there are black chickpeas. That’s odd, I love eating chickpeas a lot and I can’t believe that this is the first time that I hear that there are various kinds of chickpeas. Two of my top favorite dishes are made from this annual legume and they are hummus or falafel. Have you tried any of them and if yes, which one do you like the most?

Since you enjoy eating chickpeas, @Khanabadosh1986 , I’m pretty sure that you’ll like hummus and falafel too. One of the reasons why I enjoy hummus that much, is not only because it’s really delicious, but because it’s also easy to make. There’s no cooking involved, you just have to put all the ingredients in a blender, who will easily do the mixing job. If you are interested in preparing hummus, bellow you can find all the ingredients that this dish requires:

  • 200 gr. of tahini

  • 300 gr. chickpeas

  • 30 ml. freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 4 cloves of peeled garlic

  • 1 table spoon of cumin

  • 100 ml olive oil

  • Salt and pepper to taste

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I’ll be more than happy to assist you!

P.S.: If you are using dry chickpeas and not from a can: Place it in a large glass bowl, cover it with cold water and let it soak for 4 at least. Drain the water afterwards, pour the chickpeas into a medium sized bowl and sprinkle with soda. Allow them to simmer for about 3 minutes and don’t forget to stir them occasionally. Then add 1l. of water and wait for it to boil. Lower the temperature and allow the chickpeas to cook for about 30 minutes or until they are soft. Drain the chickpeas and cover them with cold water to remove the flakes more easily. After you’ve done all of these steps you have proceed with the recipe.
