This Local Guides journey has been a mix of learning, exploration, and some truly memorable moments. One experience that really stayed with me — I had reviewed a small local business tucked away in a quiet part of the city, thinking it was just another stop. A few weeks later, the owner actually recognized me and thanked me, saying that more people had started visiting his place after the review. That was the moment I truly understood how impactful our contributions can be.
Whenever I’m out and about, I make it a habit to check whether nearby businesses are listed on Google Maps.
If a business is already listed, I verify if the location is accurate. If it’s not, I edit and correct the location. Then I take photos, check for accessibility features, and gather other useful details like contact numbers to improve the listing.
If the business is not listed, I add it with the correct location and follow the same process — taking photos and noting details like accessibility and contact info — so I can update it once my edit is approved.
For me, being a Local Guide is all about helping people discover accurate information and supporting local communities. And now that I’ve reached Level 10, the journey feels even more exciting and rewarding! #LocalGuides#LetsGuide#MyMapStory
