Things are definitely heating up in June over here in Japan. Summer brings with it the heat and humidity, but at the same time, the locals over here know how to find a balance between elements of fire and ice through its cuisine. Teppanyaki. Can you pronounce it Teppanyaki. It’s a huge metal hot plate where you cook food on its surface.
In this video, I ordered a fried strawberry sundae. In the second video, you can see the flames shoot up! The perfect balance between hot and cold. The vanilla ice cream and warm strawberry were delightfully delicious.
If you ever visit a teppanyaki restaurant expect to be served a variety of different foods such as steaks, shrimps, and vegetables. The chef will entertain you with their skills at the griddle. Amaze you with their spatula techniques and dazzle you with their skill and mastery with cutlery. Eating at one of these types of restaurants is really the highlight of any trip to Japan.
