Journey to Nani Ghar at Jaipur-Day 1

So this time again, I got a chance to visit my Nani’s (grandmother’s) house in Jaipur
— and this visit felt even more special because it came after 4 long years!

.

The moment I entered the lanes of Old Jaipur, nostalgia hit me hard. The pink facades, the busy streets, and that familiar warmth — everything felt the same, yet somehow more magical. To reach my Nani’s place, I crossed the famous Johri Bazaar
— one of Jaipur’s most vibrant and iconic markets. It’s a paradise for shoppers and culture lovers alike! The market is filled with glittering jewelry shops, colorful textiles, handicrafts, and the sweet smell of ghewar and kachori floating in the air. Even a short walk through Johri Bazar feels like stepping into the heart of Rajasthan’s heritage.

As I got closer to my Nani’s home — which is just a few steps away from the majestic Hawa Mahal — I couldn’t resist stopping to admire this architectural marvel. The “Palace of Winds” still stands tall and elegant, with its 953 jharokhas (windows) designed to let the royal ladies enjoy street festivities while staying unseen. Seeing it again after so many years gave me the same goosebumps as my first visit!

I also clicked some pictures around the area — especially in the evening when the entire façade glowed beautifully under the golden lights. Jaipur at night truly feels like a dream painted in pink and gold. :sparkles:

Just next to Hawa Mahal is the Sawai Man Singh Town Hall, another old and charming structure that adds so much character to the area. It stands as a reminder of Jaipur’s royal legacy and architectural brilliance.

Before reaching Jaipur, we took a refreshing stop at Chai Adda on the [Delhi Mumbai Express Highway]
(Google Maps).

Nothing beats a good “chai pe charcha” moment during a road trip! :hot_beverage: I ended up having an interesting chat with two fellow passengers who turned out to be Google Maps contributors — although they hadn’t heard about the Connect platform. So of course, I took the opportunity to tell them all about it! They loved the idea and seemed really excited to explore it further. Moments like these make travel so memorable — meeting strangers, sharing stories, and connecting over chai.

:hot_beverage: Chai pe charcha (Tea Talks) is truly a magic. Thanx to @TusharSuradkar for such a wonderful initiative.

So that’s how my Day 1 in Jaipur unfolded — a mix of nostalgia, discovery, and heartfelt connections. Can’t wait to share what happens next in the coming days! :dizzy:
