The foodie in me is waking up again after a long pause. This is my lunch today and I’ll endeavour to share it ASAP. Of course it was a lunch out for a change. I get bored easily cooking all the time at home. I like to try out different restaurants if you check on my maps profile. I live in a city of many restaurant fastfood around me. This restaurant I tried out today was closed for renovations but is back in business again. Now it’s back and better. I went there with a nephew of mine, hence the 2 plates of food.
For the fried rice and chicken plate I’ll have nothing much to write. For the Jollof and beef there are things worth reminding us about, even though connect may be aware of them.
Fun facts about Jollof & this restaurant
- Nigeria and Ghana has had a long history or disagreement over which of the country has the best jollof.
- I think it’s Nigeria though. LOL.
- I got this one for less than $5 US
- It was delicious
- The Restaurant I had it was closed and re-opened and I did both edits and they were approved.
- The restaurant is in the university area where I got my first degree.
Nothing more to share, hope you will enjoy the view at least ,not possible to share the taste.
Cheers

Haha, it is Indian dish (similar to this one) I ordered from Namaste restaurant @SholaIB took a fancy of the dish and have it quite often!
Well @Sophia_Cambodia
I have to look for an Indian restaurant and etc. I’ll see about that sometime. Maybe when an in the commercial capital of Nigeria. You get bigger restaurants there and also other countries food.
Thank you for the suggestion. Can we see a photo of your dish when you have it please?
Cheers
It is Chicken Biryani @SholaIB you may google it? I did not take photo - I think it is become well known.
Okay @Sophia_Cambodia
I’ll Google it and see. Nice chatting with you over the meal. Lol
Cheers
@SholaIB Both look delicious to me. The rice grains looks quite unique. Is this locally grown rice or any specific type of import rice? It looks short grained and keeps in shape intact well after cooking.
Hello @StephenAbraham
Thank you for your comment and for noticing the rice. Yes ! We have varieties of rice here. There are imported rice and local rice alike. Although I can’t pin point what variety of rice this is,but I will not rule out the possibility of it being the local variety. We have very nice local variety of rice with very delicious taste.
Maybe I should also say we have more of the short grained rice here in West Africa than the long grain. The long grains are all imported and a bit expensive so the locals go for the affordable shorter grains. Thank you again.
Cheers

Hi @SholaIB !
The rice dishes you shared look quite delicious.
I haven’t been very active in writing comments or posts here lately because I lost interest. It’s not the same mood that was here in the forum before. Otherwise, I regularly log in and read comments and posts of various colleagues from the community.
I really like oven-baked rice with meat, and right now I’m having just such a dish for lunch - oven-baked rice with vegetables and meat.
As someone who loves food, I always take a picture of it before trying it.
Best Regards!
Hello @mockata2
I feel so special to get a detailed reply from you after all these months, thank you.
Yes I know,it seems after the lockdown life got busy and back to normal and people just got distracted from connect which is something. I have continually enjoyed the interactions and time here.
Thank you for the photo.Baked rice did you say? I haven’t ever heard of rice baked in the oven. Does it have to be a particular brand of rice? Please tell me more. I am interested and could even try it if possible. There are others who might get interested as well @Sophia_Cambodia and @StephenAbraham for instance.
Cheers

@SholaIB ,
Oven-baked rice is a very popular main dish in Bulgaria. It makes almost no difference which type of rice is used. You can cook rice with almost any kind of meat and vegetables and roast it in the oven.
Here is a clip of our popular chef named Ivan Zvezdev cooking rice with chicken legs in the oven.
Best Regards!
