Many hours have gone into this project and I’m super excited to finally announce it properly to the community! Don’t get too excited just yet…read on to find out when and how to enjoy the unveiling!

Yes, there’s still a bit of a mystery to what it is but I can reveal that we’ve been working away at creating a music video to celebrate Connect’s 5th Birthday!

The idea came from @KashifMisidia and he provided the starting point for the music video with his lyrics, originally written in Urdu and then translated to English. Next, he roped in myself and @Phunky (Anthony) to help out with the rest.

Anthony, the music extraordinaire, then worked his magic on it and came up with the music and made some adjustments to the lyrics. He then roped in his partner @AnnaBcn (Anna) who provided more refinements and improvements to both the music and lyrics! And both are providing their excellent vocals to the music too

Next, came myself and my, erm, video editing experience. I have a very rough idea of what visuals I want in the music video but realising it can be technically challenging. And my vision constantly changes as I’m working on the video!

And it isn’t a Local Guides project unless we try to involve the community in some form! So, I’ve got some superb clips from the Connect Moderators and Local Guides team…plus, all the amazing photos that you all have provided to my request post.

So, the music video is already completed and published on YouTube BUT it will only premiere on the 15th July and then become publicly available for viewing.

Why?!

Well, I wanted to drum up some excitement for this project and rather than let everyone watch it whenever they happen to read this post or see the link shared on social media, I think it would be awesome if we all could wait for the final unveil AND watch it together! :yum:

Leading up to the music video becoming public, you can visit the YouTube premiere page to join the chat! I propose that we all go to the YouTube page 15 minutes before the scheduled time and get excited together!!

Hey @AdrianLunsong thanks so much for doing this for the community. I’m really looking forward to seeing the end result which I’m pretty sure will be a lot of fun! This was a labour of love by all and I’m sure the result will be massive. It was fun making the music / video / lyrics with @Kashifmisidia and @AnnaBcn .

There was a LOT of preparation work going back a month for this date. Like you said, a lot of work was put into this labour of love (hours, you’re modest, I count days :)). There was excellent communication by all involved and it is very rewarding pleasure to have been invited to work on and international remote project. That’s what connects us all together as local guides :smile: yay!

Never downplay your video skills dude. You’ve come on leaps and bounds.

@AdamGT I’ve amended the post to include Anna’s Connect username ( @AnnaBcn ) after getting the info from @Phunky ! :sweat_smile: Anna is an alumni of Connect Live actually having attended Local Guides Summit 2017. Anthony then got selected for Connect Live 2018 and 2019. You can definitely agree that the whole networking aspect of the summits is working well! :+1:

I know why I got the time wrong: I was deciding on whether to put Kuala Lumpur or Jakarta and ended up choosing Jakarta because of the larger Local Guides community but still was using Malaysia time!! :+1: The post and YouTube description have been corrected! Phew!!
