Jeru

Firstly, I would just like to mention that Jeru is also Jeru bakery, Leyla bar (inspired by Eric Clapton story) and Jeru restaurant – all depending on what time of the day you are there. Upon arrival, I was there around dinner time and was not able to try too many of their pastries but I would have loved to. It leaves at least a reason to come back whether it is for a hot cross bun or a nice burlesque show. I was lucky enough to visit Layla’s bar too which is gorgeous (btw see pics later in the post).
Upon arrival, we got our booking and they actually asked if they could take our coats which were new for me. Going through the restaurant it was so stunning with an open and complementary colour scheme – it looked well thought out. The first we were recommended was Z’afaran which has a not so overwhelming but still there taste of Tequila Reposado

The staff were really sweet and knowledgeable as they chose the perfect wine, an amazing bottle of red wine from the vineyard in Italy, Sicilia.
Image 3: The food on the table now is potatoes fermented Woodfire bread (of course made from their bakery), chickpeas miso, truffle honey and “Tarbes farm” Angus rump basturma
Image 4: Small plate: Smoked duck sujuk bites, pickled onions and kumquats. Large plate: Old city grilled kingfish, Nablus tahini, fermented chickpeas and chilli oil.
Image 5: Plate in the back: Charcoal roasted aubergine, macadamia salsa, mint tahini – Plate in the front: Charcoal octopus, cuttlefish ragu, chilli and black spinach.
Image 6: Roast monkfish steak, citrus and Aleppo pepper bearnaise
Image 7: Hassleback Jerusalem artichoke, Aleppo oil, anchovies and Avruga caviar
At this point, we were really fun of great food and even better wine and was ready for dessert. Out of all the great and tasty meals, the Hassleback Jerusalem artichoke was my absolute favourite – if I had to pick one. It was really hard to pick out a favourite but that one just had the perfect taste which hit all the taste buds in the right way.
Staff were very friendly here and the Chef Roy Ner who is an award-winning Australian celebrity chief and is Cordon Bleu trained – came out to take a picture and chat with us. He further took us down to Layla’s bar where we got to eat our dessert there.

There venue and food were absolutely amazing. There is a lot of talent from the host, to bartenders to the chiefs. Jeru was an amazing experience and I would love to come back another time to explore their bakery and also their late-night events.
