Japanese Vintage Coffee House - Coffee Darumado

A Japanese coffee house is a comfort and goto place including Japanese and foreigners. Coffee Darumado is a traditional and vintage japanese coffee house served hand brewed coffee with handmade cakes and pizzas, is located at mizumoto, Katsushika city, Tokyo.

Its a renovated old house with antique lighting and stained glass. a wooden beam Has antique chandelier that spread with dim lights creates a rustics atmosphere.







This coffee house was established in 1988. owner lives in the house behind the coffee house. They organise event and also take booking for private parties. This coffee house is so popular for its vintage look that many dama, Tv series, web serious has highlighted this coffe house and There have been many drama shootings.

I don’t drink tea or coffee, but I do drink it 2-3 times a year. The cafe Au late, processing of carefully selected bean and water were heated thoroughly and the coffee served in lustrous Arita porcelain cup and saucers. A handmade cookie and almond chocolate also serverd.




The caesar salad made with veggies topped with crouton, eggs and dressing was absolutely delicious. The Handmade croissant and egg sandwich fashioned the appreciation of retro vibes with jazz and pop music.

This is a tabby cat made of ceramic also known as winstanely pottery art piece. Has glasse eye, dark stripes and swril on the back.

Its a piece of Imari porcelain, a style of Japanese porcelain known for its vibrant colors (cobalt blue and white) and intricate designs.

LladrÃŗ figurines are highly collectible and can be found in museums and private collections worldwide.



The decorative piece of large golden Maneki-neko (beckoning cat) which is a symbol for bringing good fortune. The difference porcelain amd ceramics pieces attracted me a lot.

Its a wall plaque featuring a design by the German artist Rosina Wachtmeister, describs two cats in a whimsical and colorful style characteristic of Wachtmeister’s work.



There is a case of antiques art pieces consists of flower vases, vintage glasswares and and special collectables. Have many small clear glass figurine. The gramophone, mirror, plant, painting, magazines all are the combination of tranquil environment.

The statue is named Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk, In Japan, he is known as Daruma and is revered as a symbol of perseverance and enlightenment.
Bodhidharma is considered the founder of the Zen school of Buddhism, emphasizing meditation and direct insight. The statue is made in Kutani style, which is known for its vibrant colors and intricate designs.

The entrance has greenery atmosphere, the two entrance point for parking is allocated. also a parking lot with 10 car spaces.


It has Jizo statues on entrance. Also you can check my writing about Jizo statue. There are many stone statues around the house. This is what I have experienced about this classic coffee house.

Wow, very interesting post @Trishatishu .

Although all photographs are stunning with great detail, however I liked most the photograph where cats and other miniature artisan are kept beautifully.

One Query - Why Japanese keep so much cat artisan in their restaurants ? Do they consider them lucky charm ?

In japanese culture cats have the significant place, considered as symbol of good fortune, protection and prosperity. Specially the Maneki-neko or ‘beckoning cat’ a popular figurine believed to bring good luck to business and homes.

Cats were brought to Japan from China around the 6th century, initially to protect sacred Buddhist scriptures from rodent attacks. Over the time, they integrated into society, becoming beloved companions and symbols of good luck.
