JANUARY INSPIRATION

Happy New Year folks!

January is basically like the “Monday” of months as most people are trying to get back to the regular programming of their lives after the December holidays when every day feels like a Friday.

I love visiting art galleries, especially in January since they always get my creative juices flowing and help me get over the holiday blues. I, therefore, recently visited the “Nairobi Gallery” which is in a building that was built in 1913 and was the office of the Nairobi’s Provisional Commissioner. It is fairly cheap to access and charges Kshs. 150 and this comes with a free guided tour if you prefer.

I loved the gallery since it not only hosts art exhibitions every 3 months but it is also a conservator of art, traditions, and heritage of communities from various parts of Africa. Below are some of the art pieces that I found inspiring!

What’s the story behind the spoons? Interesting.

I thought so too. @vvbellur It just a display of spoons that were traditionally used by various communities in Africa. They are from Nigeria, Kenya and the middle metallic one with holes is from the Indian community in Kenya.

Thanks for sharing, @InnocensiaO . I have the same hobby when travelling as well. I even find a reason in it to travel solo just so I can focus well enough on galleries and museums. That’s how I visited Denmark and the Czech Republic and I enjoyed every bit of those trips.

It is really, @InnocensiaO . I’m happy to share my findings at any point. I could live on art and nature happily forever. Have fun exploring! I’m right in the middle of my own cultural exploration plan for this year. I’m planning to get to know in depth at least five cultures this year.
