Jalebi or Jilapi ( জিলাপি) in Bengali, is a famous and tasty Indian sweet. It’s also found in Bangladesh and in some places of Southern Asia. It’s basically an Indian Street food and you can find it mostly in a village fair. Jilapi is much popular in rural areas of India.
This sweet is made of rice flour and maida and in some areas of West Bengal it is also made of ‘Dal’. Though Jilapis made of Dal is rare now a days.
It’s a traditional Indian sweet and is made in a funny and tricky way. To make this tasty dessert, you have to fry the rice-flour or maida batter in a round shape and in Bengali it is called ‘প্যাঁচ দিয়ে’। And have to fry it deeply for some crunchy texture, then have to soak it in sugar syrup for sometime.
