The past 3 weeks, people in Jakarta had been rejoicing. After years in the making, we finally have our own MRT! It will be officially operating in business by 1 April so currently it is open for public (free of charge). The public needs to book the ticket online and show the QR code that they received upon their booking.
The MRT route operates in the South Jakarta area (Central Business District) with 13 stops from Lebak Bulus to Bundaran Hotel Indonesia. From beginning to end trip will take about 30-40 minutes which is half the time of the trip by car. The layout of the station reminds me of Singapore MRT meets London Underground. The train schedule runs every 10 minutes, the movement of the train is smooth like one of those airport train and the train is clean and AC cold. Excited to see the people of Jakarta enjoying more options in public transport.
