The town of approximately 45,000 inhabitants on the north of Bohemia in the Liberec Region is located in the Jizera Mountains and is often referred to as the gateway to the Jizera Mountains. If we want experiences from Jablonec, we can visit Petrin, a place with a former lookout tower and restaurant, from which there is a beautiful view of the whole city, Jizera Mountains, part of Liberec.
The town is sporty, as evidenced by the year-to-year Jizerská 50 race, a cross-country race with a start in Bedřichov. The city is famous for its glass and jewellery production, but many other industries are also represented. Jablonec and its surroundings offer a number of sporting and tourist activities both romantic (Maloskalsko) and popular (Jizerské hory).
We can get to Jablonec from Prague on the D10 motorway with a turn-off to Rychnov u Jablonce, from Poland via Harrachov and Tanvald, from Germany via Hrádek nad Nisou or Liberec, from Hradec Králové and Pardubíc either by train or by road via Stara Paka and Turnov. The town is very quiet, lying between the Jizera hills and there is a pleasant mountain, sporty or romantic atmosphere.
