I became a local guide in the year 2017 and it’s been great so far. This was during my studies in London. I always tried to check out places of interest on google maps before visiting. I relied heavily on photos and reviews about places posted by other local guides. After benefiting from the photos and reviews of other local guides I decided to make contributions to the Google Maps when necessary. My first photos and reviews posted was about the Edmonton market in Edmonton, North London. I became passionate about being a local guide because photos and reviews posted by other local guides helped me a great deal. I posted pictures and reviews of favourite places I visited, and I loved it.
I get great satisfaction when I get emails from Google Maps notifying me of the number of views my photos and reviews have gained. I am back in my home country Ghana and I continue to post pictures and reviews of places in my home country. I gain fulfilment in knowing that my pictures and reviews help people in making decisions regarding places they wish to visit or spend quality time.
I love visiting places where I can find nature and serenity. I wouldn’t say I am a solitary person, but we all have those moments when we need some peace and quiet to reflect on life and admire nature. A few of such places in Ghana are;
- Legon Botanical Gardens
- Aburi Botanical Gardens
- Peduase Valley Lodge Resort
I endeavour to add photos to my reviews and posts because I believe it gives people a clearer picture or view of the place being reviewed. Readers can get a better understanding in their mind’s eye about the place of interest.
I love answering questions readers have about accessibility of locations because I believe it could affect someone’s experience positively or negatively if they are not aware of the accessibilty provisions at a location.
It would be great to meet other local guides to share their experiences on how they view the world and how much it means to them being locals guides.
