Have you ever been told to change your perspective on a matter? Of course you have! We are constantly bombarded by advertisments, political campaigns, etc which tell us we should look at something in a different way than we are now. But did you know that your perspective or angel in relation to the subject of your photograph is also important when taking photos as well?

Let’s take a room of a brand new office building I was photographing to post on Google maps.

Here I used the perspective of looking into the room from the outside to make it look larger and brighter. I also used the leading lines of the desk to draw your eye through the frame. (More on leading lines in another post)

This is the very same room, but from a different perspective. The room now feels smaller and less "put together" than the previous image.

By just changing my perspective, I change the feel of the image quite a bit. So next time you take an image, think about your angle or perspective in relation to the subject. Also in the next post we will talk about leading lines.
