Gwalior is world famous for its ancient and historical fort. Important monuments include the Samadhi of Rani Laxmi Bai, which is situated in the middle of the city in Phool Bagh of Gwalior, outside the ancient fort. One such popular park is the Italian Garden, also known as Jalavihar, is a tourist attraction.
It was built during the reign of Daulat Rao Scindia in early 19th century. Baiza Bai was his favourite Queen and his third wife. It was built for the Royal Ladies of Scindias. Still Baiza Bai Talab is spectacular. It was built on Italian models and Tuscan Architecture is also significant in the Moti Mahal which is the Mayor’s office also. It has stone’s canals tank having the fountains and pavilions. Landscaping is excellent and many structures which are inspired by Italian Architecture. Its refreshing environment and jogging tracks amidst the palm trees and lush green lawns is a major attraction among the tourits and locals for jogging, walking etc. It’s a favourite spot among the families, students, couples etc to enjoy the weekend as a picnic.
I really like the place very much and enjoyed the walking for an hour. It’s located close to the Zoo, and Jiwaji Rao Scindia Museum which was the Royal Residence and was known as Jai Vilas Palace are nearest attractions. It’s a major attraction among the tourits of Nature lovers fitness concious people art and architecture lovers etc.
