Hope you all are doing well and contributing to the Society within your best reach.
I came through a Post That Made Me Decide for a Yamuna Cleanup
A few hours before my meet-up, “Beyond the Map: A Journey Through Mini Tibet | Majnu Ka Tila,” I came across a post shared by @Rahul001 , “Celebrate International Coastal Cleanup Day with Local Guides.”
The post made me pause and think.
I had already planned to do a small cleanup activity before the meet-up, but Rahul’s post gave me a new perspective. It helped me decide on the location Vasudev Ghat, standing on the banks of the Yamuna.
Thank you, @Rahul001 , for creating that awareness and inspiring this little effort.
I reached Vasudev Ghat with @SonamW Ma’am. We put on our sustainable gloves and masks, picked up our garbage bags, and started walking along the Yamuna.
But as we walked around the ghat, we began noticing something that was difficult to ignore.
Polythene bags, plastic bottles and different kinds of waste were scattered all around the surroundings.
For a moment, we stopped and looked around.
The Yamuna was flowing quietly beside us, while the waste along its banks told a very different story.
So, we started picking up whatever waste we could find one polythene bag, one bottle, one piece of waste at a time.
At first, it felt like a simple cleanup activity.
But as I continued picking up the waste, I began thinking about something much bigger.
The Yamuna is a river, but it is also connected to something much larger our oceans.
What we throw beside a river does not necessarily stay there. Plastic and other waste can travel through waterways and eventually find its way into our oceans.
And suddenly, this was no longer just about cleaning Vasudev Ghat.
It was about understanding that ocean conservation can begin much closer to home beside a river, on our streets, and even with something as simple as picking up a plastic bottle.
There was something peaceful about being there. The river was flowing quietly, the surroundings were beautiful, and after the cleanup, we took a few photographs to capture the place and the little moments we had shared.
we collected all the waste into the garbage bags and dropped into the dustbin
with warmth and smile that comes when you try to do something for the society for Sustainable growth for future.
Then it was time to leave.
We packed up, looked back at the place one more time, and made our way towards our meet-up for the day.
What had started as a simple walk along the Yamuna had left me with a very different thought:
Maybe protecting the ocean doesn’t always begin at the ocean.
Sometimes, it begins with a river and with us. ![]()
A small effort.
A meaningful moment.
And hopefully, a reminder that every one of us can make a difference.,
special kudous to @SonamW ma’am for helping, Guiding and taking the beautiful photographs of the scenarios with me.
