It possible to edit the location of a contributed photo?

I contributed a number of photos to a Google service (I forgot the name) before the inception of Local Guides. Google apparently has transferred them from the ceased service to Local Guides. All of the photos are labeled “Unknown place”. Is it possible to edit the locations of these photos?

Hi @hz10 , I am sorry but no, it is not possible.

The photos were uploaded with Panoramio, and an email was sent to all Panoramio users about the end of the service.

As the photos were not associated to a POI, it will not be possible to do it now.

If your photos are related to a POI, you should delete the photos in Maps (to avoid duplication) and upload them again in the correct POI

Yes, it is Panoramio (I was searching “stopped Google panorama service”, could not find it :blush: ).

Yes, they are POI pictures (of parks). I thought the photos had their exact locations and Google could link them to the parks.

Sorry, but I could not locate the email from Google but I remember it vaguely. What did Google suggest to us with these photos in the mail?

One of our great Local Guides, @MahabubMunna , posted the mail here

Regarding your photos, as you can see “You can earn points and unlock rewards for photos submitted with a Google account when they are linked to a point of interest or business”

This means that Google Maps do not automatically associate your photo to a POI, but keep the association if you did it on Panoramio.

So, If you want to associate your photos to a POI, you should follow the way that I indicated on my previous reply.

If you don’t have the original file of the photos, you can find them, at full resolution, on your Google Photo Album Archive

Hello @hz10 ,

I just wanted to let you know that you can tag Connect members when you are replying to them by writing @ before their name. That’s how they will receive a notification and will see your comment.
