It ain’t that simple to answer "Simple Yes/No Questions" 😉

Local guides program has changed my perspective of travelling and knowing more out of the places I visit. The most interesting thing that I have done as a Local Guide is to answer simple yes/no questions about the places that I have visited. Yes, you read that right!

I think it’s one of the most underrated features in the google maps and often left unexplored. Earlier I used to answer the yes/no questions when it came automatically upon opening the maps, but as time progressed, I developed interest and started answering them on my own by going to the “Contribute more” section.

I find the questions proposed by Google maps insightful and to the point. I feel that by answering these questions, you can help people by giving them important and relevant information about the place, perhaps even better than writing a review of the same place. It also helps Google get the correct information, verify it from their local guides and post/update the maps accordingly. The questions asked, have a great deal of variety about it: be it choosing the correct photo of the place, answering about wheelchair entrance accessibility, parking or something else, which probably you might miss while reviewing any place.

I have answered more than 3600 yes/no questions about the 260+ places I have reviewed in Google maps. I am so addicted to answering these questions now, that I keep coming back to them daily. Trust me, it’s fun! They also give you 1 point for every answer which is even better

The picture above shows the number of Simple Yes/No Questions answered by me.

I hope that by answering the simple yes/no questions, I have helped a few people make correct choices when visiting a restaurant for their favorite food or perhaps even getting a parking spot when visiting crowded tourist places! I would urge other local guides also to start answering these questions without being prompted by google maps and have fun!
