Ist Century BC’s Terracotta Toy Chariot, Found in Koshambi, Displayed in Terracotta Gallery, Allahabad Museum, Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh, India.
At present there is no museum in Koshambi and excavation is also being done under the supervision of Department of Archeology and Department of Ancient History of Allahabad University. Most of the art works received are displayed in the Terracotta Art Gallery of Allahabad Museum. One of these artefacts is the toy chariot whose art fascinates the mind and this magnificent rare exquisite Terracotta creation dates back to first century before Christ.
The importance of toys has been there since ancient times, which is evident from the receipt of toys in archaeological remains which were found in excavation and India is also not untouched. Very wisely even in ancient times, Indian parents used to engage their children with toys while busy with their responsibilities and thus thought about the creative upbringing of their children. So they discovered the usefulness of toys that would not only attract their children but would allow them to learn about the world around us while growing up. Young children use toys to discover their identity, help strengthen their bodies, learn cause and effect, explore relationships, and practice skills.
About this Toy Chariot Archaeological Survey of India described as a 10 objects on the Heritage Trail. Visitors should follow the trail which will be helpful to discover more about Indian history. This piece of a toy chariot is beautifully decorated on the front portion with a pair of bulls with prominent horns decked with garlands and a lotus medallion embellished with a floral band lined with vertical strokes. This depiction brings to mind bullock-cart racing which, even to this day, is practiced in various parts of the country, such as Karnataka, Now missing, are the axle, wheels and the wooden framework for yoking the animals to draw it, perhaps bulls.
I believe that this selected heritage, which has participated in many exhibitions in the world, presents a glimpse of the developed and prosperous Kosambi.

Assalamualaikum
Thanks Sir Jee.
Previously parents were designing the toys or might be choosing the right toys for their children, which were helpful in better upbringing and creative. Presently parents are not able to choose the right one and just handing over the mobile without knowing the consequences.
I think past era’s parents were wise and intelligent.
Best regards and Duas for your good health and happiness.
