Issue with views

I am seeing views with different figures when I sort them. How do I seek support on this.

I have attached screenshot showing the issue.

Thank you

Hey @Maximust ,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Although I want to help you, I don’t quite understand the issue. Can you clarify?

Thank you for the feedback on this issue @Maximust

I have just checked on my own profile, and I have no issues while switching photo views between Newest and Most Viewed. There is an issue with the likes count, already escalated, but the view count is fine on my side.

Can you please try the following:

  • Make sure to have the latest version of the app
  • Logout from your account on Google Maps
  • Close the app
  • Clear the cache
  • Login again

This should reset the count. Please let me have your feedback

When I look at my photos it shows a figure for views and likes, when I toggle between views and newest it gives me different totals.

Hey @Maximust ,

@ErmesT provided some troubleshooting that my solve the issue. Can you please follow his instructions and get back to us?

Thank you, have just tried this and the figures still differ. Max

Thank you for the feedback @Maximust

I just checked your public profile. On desktop I see the same data while switching, but on mobile, I agree with you, there is a huge difference. Looks like the most viewed photo, that is now more than 84.000 views, is not counted when you switch to “recent”. When did you uploaded this photo?

BTW, to meke sure that we get your reply, in the future can you please tag the person you want to mention?

Tagging is a procedure, activated by the @ symbol, to send a notification to a specific person of the post.

@Bobiisha , can you do a check on mobile? It really seems the most viewed photo is not counted

Are your figures also different when using other platforms, @Maximust ?

Hey @MortenCopenhagen and @Maximust ,

Sometimes the system takes longer for synchronization. Usually even if there is some kind of delay for showing the right numbers, the systems keeps counting and replicates correctly in some time.

This is the ongoing thread regarding the same topic. Normally, if there is a new information, it will appear there. For now I’d like to ask you to wait for a bit so we can see if this is really an issue with your profiles or just a glitch in the system.

@ErmesT I added nearly everything since the turn of the year so the most viewed pictures definitely hasn’t been in the last 7 days.

@MortenCopenhagen the exact same is showing on chrome via my desktop laptop.

@Bobiisha I am happy to wait if necessary, my views are increasing on both views and most recent. However I have one photo which has the majority of views which I think is the culprit. As mentioned by @ErmesT

When I view the photographer badge of @Maximust , I see a view count of 22193# only in sync with the count visible in normal sort order.

Thus, that’s not an issue of synchronisation as the individual badges update quickly.

I perceive that to be an issue somewhat similar to edits. Is the view count of some photos also not being accepted as eligible?

@C_T is there certain restrictions on photos? All of mine have been taken legitimately, some use standard mode or some HDR, apart from that nothing special.

Hello @Maximust

Yes, there are guidelines on what photos to post on Maps.

However, the photo of the Van Gogh Museum does not seem to violate anything.

By the way, I have noted two more things.

  1. On the desktop, the photo view count remains unchanged at 22193, in any sort order.
  2. The photo as above, though captured in September 2018, the label at top left corner in desktop view says that to be of Feb 2020. Did you post that again?

@C_T I took it in 2018 but only uploaded recently. I used to have a Huawei phone and don’t think I was getting all of the Google notifications to review etc, since changing to Samsung in 2020 I have been getting all notifications encouraging me to upload.

@C_T this is the most recent screenshot of my most viewed pictures on mobile. It’s the same on desktop

Hello @Maximust

Then surely, that’s an issue of synchronization. Once the view counts on the “Photographer” badge updates, the problem will vanish.

The photo of Van Gogh is “featured”, and is acquiring views speedily.
Though, that update reflects in the sort order by views, the order by date will continue to show the one appearing on your Photographer badge.
BTW, you have posted a screenshot on mobile. Below is the screenshot of view count on the Desktop, sorted in the order of views.
