Issue with migrating my data over to personal Gmail account

Is there a way to move my data, currently stored as my work email address, to my personal Gmail?

I’d love to contribute more on here.

Hi @jimbojambo

Thank you for asking. Unfortunately is not actually possible to transfer the Local Guides Contributions between accounts, and according to the Local Guides Program Terms and ConditionsContributions to Google Maps must originate from a single Google account to count towards benefits and cannot be transferred between owned accounts.

There is a proposal (an idea) for a Tool for transferring a Local Guide Account that still open to vote, but this is not something implemented by Google yet.

What you need to do is to copy your 65 reviews, then delete them and close this account from here (https://maps.google.com/localguides/home/settings ), then rewrite your reviews with your new Local guides account

Hello @jimbojambo

You are not explicitly specifying what you are trying to move.

If that is related to moving the data from the work email folders to personal (as per your statement), you can accomplish that through any mail client, effortlessly.

Nevertheless, since you are raising this query on Connect, then that must be related to the data in Maps contributed as a Local Guide.

If the current LG account happens to be through your work email, then, in my opinion, the contributions are not many to cause some significant trouble for doing so manually.

You can download multiple contents through “Google Take-out” at this link

https://takeout.google.com/

That will allow you to download all the data residing over Google servers generated through different apps. However, before doing so, please review the confidentiality agreement with your employer if any.

Nevertheless, you can narrow the download solely to the data in Google Maps. That will include the text in all reviews.

Then, you have to upload the content to each POI one by one.

However, the takeout option doesn’t cover the photos in Maps.

Nevertheless, there is only a single photo in the contributions.

For that, on a desktop, do a right-click on the pic & select “Save image as” to download.

However, the quality may not be the same as the original one.

Anyway, you will be losing current views & likes. However, since the data will be sitting as fresh content in your LG profile, that will attract new visitors & that will make up for the loss.
