I travelled in August 2023 to Kyrgyzstan and of course used Google Maps to go anywhere.
When arrived in Jalal-Abad I had to drive to Osh (at night) and google forced me to go in some gravel countryside crazy roads to reach the final destination. This deviation added about 2 hours to the whole itinerary. INSANE
on my way back (day time) from Osh we saw that the asphalted road actually continued directly to Jalal-Abad cutting those 2 extra hours basically to 30 minutes paved road. I was shocked.
How an instituion like Google can make such a mistake. I tried to report it but unsuccesfully.
Even trying to force the route is extremly hard cause Google Maps thinks that the near the boarder road is crossying the actually Kyrgyz boarder, which is FALSE.
The borders are however extremely well defined and patrolled and fanced on land but also on maps.
I cannot imagine other tourists and adventurers going through that gravel countryside road completely dark at night with plenty of animals crossing just cause Google Maps isnt committed to change the route.
PLEASE HELP ME FIX THIS

Hi @giulioaprin
Google Maps depends on this kind of input to improve.
I suggest you provide feedback about the incorrect navigation step using a desktop computer.
This link will explain how to do so.
Cue up directions so the faulty step will show up.
Then select Send feedback which is found at the bottom of the map (not the left panel).
Then click on the flag next to the faulty navigation step.
Then select Problem type. Here you can add some notes.
Use the notes to explain in apparent detail what the problem is. Please specify the exact GPS coordinates where relevant. Also, include deep links to Google Streetview if applicable. The more clear details, the better.
It can take 2-3 weeks before changes show on the map. Google will not notify you about the result. Just check the map once a week or so.
Best of luck
Morten
Hello Morten,
Thank you I sent the feedback on the specific point where Google Maps divert from the main paved road.
I hope the issue will be taken in consideration asap cause a divertion of 2 h putting people in danger especially if driving at night is an important issue to address.
I’ll be waiting for an update.
Thank you again

I will share details of the issue here too.
Segment of the route in question here

What information do you think is incorrect?
As you can see the suggested route takes a big divert from the main paved road, deep into the countryside passing by a village called Dzhida on a dangerous dirt road. While there is the continue of the paved road passing near the boarder with Uzbekistan (which google consider a crossing border, which is false).
Of course the issue is in both direction Osh-Jalal-Abad and Jalal-Abad-Osh
What should it be changed to?
It should be changed into the simplier route that continues on the paved road which is mapped and marked on the map. 40.860153, 73.079179
Sorry, @giulioaprin
I don’t know the area.
You could try the Maps support forum.
Hit the Community tab at the top and make a post. The volunteers there might have a chance to escalate this to the relevant team.
Sending standard feedback in the app is also an option. But don’t expect Googlers to reach out.
Cheers
Morten
Thank you @MortenCopenhagen
I am reporting the issue in all the ways you mentioned, hopefully it will be fixed.
