Iskilip Grand Mosque

Iskilip Grand Mosque is located in the İskilip district center of Çorum province. Ulucami, which was destroyed by the earthquake in 1839 and burned completely in the fire, but with a stone minaret, was built by Architect Çördükoğlu Hasan in 1841 on the foundations of a mosque previously in the region. The existing minarets of the mosque are from the old mosque.

The first banisi “Kiçi” bey, Ulucami, which was destroyed by the earthquake in 1839 and burned completely in the fire that broke out, but had a stone minaret, was rebuilt by architect Cücükoğlu Hasan in 1841 under the leadership of Serbestzade Ahmet Efendi.

The last of the two years of the Ottoman Empire was still open to worship. The interior of the mosque is decorated with Kufi writing. The stone is a stone base. It has a hidden dome. The mihrab is decorated with Seljuk and Ottoman tiles. In the new period, some places were renewed in accordance with the original within the scope of the Square Project initiated by our Municipality. It is one of the places of worship that must be visited for both architectural and history enthusiasts.
