When travelling it could be hard to find good spots to visit, great restaurants to not miss and sometimes you are in need of that perfect Latte. Travelling with kids adds some extra parameters to count for. For instance, my youngest daughter must have strawberry jam when eating waffles. Traditionally in the northern part of Sweden, waffles are served with cloudberry jam. Will we get in trouble when getting to a restaurant serving only cloudberry jam?
Planning our ski-trip to Samevistet, a waffle café in the middle of nowhere in Sweden, Google maps and the Local guide community helped me with information about opening times and even information about transportation by a snow vessel in case some of my kids would go crazy and refuse to ski back with us.
By giving a little of my time sharing information about places I’m able to get plenty back when in need of information to make a choice what to explore and when. By being both a subscriber and a producer of knowledge on Google Maps, the community will keep on growing, facts will stay accurate. Other people might find my contributions valuable which will result in a greater experience for them.
There are plenty of hard working people running businesses. For me it is a huge honor to be able to spread the word about them. It has happened several times that an owner of a business that I have written something about replies. It just feels great to have that conversation widely open to others to read and react upon.
This is what makes me proud of being an active Local guide contributor.
ps. As stated by photos from Samevistet in Google Maps, they do serve strawberry jam. It saved my day!
