I have been contributing under this account for a long time. I added about 12k photos and I am very active as a contributer to Google Maps. But I have a huge problem with my Email address that is connected with my personal life and I really have to change it because I can not use it anymore if it keeps being the same address as it is right now.
So I did some research and found out that users can not change their Gmail address and it is being recommended to create a new account.
If I was to do that than I would have to delete all my contributions and start all over again because I don’t want the contributions of my old account competing with my new ones. So I was wondering if there would be a way someone could transfer the contributions I made over the last years to a new account, do I don’t lose everything I did.
Another problem would be the badges local Guides get because I already added every place I could find to maps so I couldn’t add any new places to get the badge for adding new stuff.
First, though you can have multiple Google accounts, you can’t have two or more Local Guide accounts at the same time. That’s against the program rules.
Secondly, as you have rightly gathered, there is no means to transfer contributions from one account to the other. There is a suggestion in idea exchange. However, that’s unlikely to happen.
Nevertheless, you can download the photos & reviews, sign out of the existing account & then upload those to the new LG account.
Although you would be losing the count of views & likes, all the contributions would appear as the latest & that would easily make up the loss.
Is it against the rules to post duplicate pictures? Because then I would also have to delete all my 12k pictures one by one which is just about impossible to pull off.
Okay, I just had an Idea. If anyone working at Google is reading this, please continue reading and maybe contact me.
So it is possible to delete accounts for violating rules, meaning the local Guides account and the contributions get deleted. Now I’m not saying I’ll brake any rules, the intention behind this idea is that I would like to have the account removed through the same process but with giving my permission and having someone working at Google that is nice enough to help me press the delete button without me braking the rules. That should be possible because I know this feature does exist and this has to be possible. So please contact me and tell me if this is possible.
I don’t work for Google, but I have another idea. How about keeping your local guides account for that purpose only and create a new account for your other needs?
I am the author of the idea of a tool for transferring a local guide account. The idea has been closed, it means that Google is not going to implement this request now.
As already explained by @C_T , uploading the same content on another account without removing your contributions from this one is a violation of the rules (duplicate content) and I don’t know any case on which Google have removed the contributions by request.
Of course you can download everything with Google takeout, but this will not delete the contributions.
Following the idea suggested by @MortenCopenhagen , you can go on https://myaccount.google.com/ , and change your username and your profile photo, and increase the privacy level, keeping the same account for contributing
As you mentioned that you uploaded more than 11000 Photos, but you still be a level 8, I did a quick check, and in fact more than 4000 Photos of you are made private, not contributing to give points.
As suggest you to deeply check your contributions, removing all the duplicate photos (even if you do an edit of the photo, the subject is exactly the same) and the redundant photos (Aka “near duplicate”).
This kind of contributions can be the reason for suspending a local guide account.
I am sorry for the inconvenience you are facing with your email address. I hope you’ll find the best solution for you soon.
However, the replies provided above are correct. It is not currently possible to transfer content between accounts. Unfortunately, this is just a limitation of how the system works at this time.
With the above said I will accept @C_T 's reply as a solution as it gives the complete answer to your question.
Could I suggest an alternative approach @user_not_found rename your gmail account and then create a new one for your non Local Guides activities. You cannot change the login username for Google but you can visit https://myaccount.google.com/name and change the name that is seen publicly to be something else. No-one can see what the email itself is.
I would take great care creating multiple accounts, its perfectly ok to do that (I do) as long as only one of them is in the Local Guides program and contributing to Google Maps.
