Is my account being suspended?

I have been travelling home for the past couple months and taking my time trying out local foods. However, I’ve noticed that many of my recent reviews have been hidden from public views even though they are authentic from my personal experiences. It feels like my account has been filtered or censored. It’s getting more and more frustrating, especially when I discover new places and try to be the first one to review each new place but to no avail. What should I do?

Obviously no, you are not suspended.

However recently Google Maps started to be more restrictive on filtering the content posted by us.

The reason is related to a huge flow of fake reviews, so to force all the platforms that are providing reviews online to create stronger algorithms.

The filter is acting on both photos and reviews, and a review can be blocked also because a not appropriate photo/video is attached to the review.

In fact I can see from your public profile that 184 of your photos and 31 reviews are not posted.

I suggest you to act in a few steps:

  • Find the hidden reviews by opening this link on an anonymous web page. In this way you will be able to identify the “not displayed” reviews.
  • Check the hidden reviews, and edit them, e.g. removing the attached media. If the review is posted then try to attach your photos again, one by one, trying to identify which one may trigger the filter.
  • If the steps above don’t help, please fill the form linked in this post for a review of your profile: An update on how we moderate Google Maps reviews
  • Do not edit the reviews after the submission of the form, because this action may reset the appeal. Please also keep in mind that a check may be performed in several weeks (up to 8 in my case) so please be patient

Thank you so much for your feedback! It was very helpful. I have reposted a couple of them and succeeded. I will keep going through more of them to see if I can identify the patterns regarding why those reviews are hidden.
