If i post a photo to my Facebook page and than also post it on the maps, connect, crowdsource or any other social media. is it acceptable?
Hi @Tanvir_Hasan , Yes, it is completely okay to share photos you own in multiple platforms. You own the photos and you are free to use where you want. You are the owner of the copyright for your photos, and you give, when you submit your photos, the permission to Google for displaying them on Google Maps.
thanks @SaifIS
Thanks for reaching out @Tanvir_Hasan .
Like @SaifIS mentions, any photo that rightfully belongs to you, are free for you to post on the platform of your choice. Have in mind that posting photos on Google Maps will require the photos to be relevant to the point of interest they’re posted to.
Yes of course @Tanvir_Hasan and I like many other fellow Local Guides have done so.
As mentioned by @MortenSI , do make sure that it’s relevant to the topic that you’re posting about. And regardless of where you’re posting your photos to, it’s always really useful to add a good caption/text to explain what they are all about!
And my personal take on sharing information is to create once, and then share the link to other social media platforms. For instance, I share photos to my Instagram account which I have set up to auto-share to Facebook and Twitter. And sometimes, once I’ve written a review on Google Maps, I would share that review to my Facebook friends especially when I know that some of my friends would find the review useful.
I totally agree with you about adding captions/edits to photos and as you may have seen in my posts like the Missing captions on Maps Reviews and Connect post photos when added from Google Photos, have had many issues with adding them but @sonnyNg is well onto it. I also like your second idea about using a link to the one image.
Hi, I understood the question in another way. Not in legal terms (about copyright or ownership) but… let’s say… in “moral terms”. If we are awarded by our effort taking the photo, wouldn’t it be unfair to earn points twice, in different apps (like Maps and Crowdsource), because of the same photo?
