Lampung is a producer of iron ore. Iron ore consists of oxygen and iron atoms bonded together in molecules. Iron itself is usually found in the form of magnetite (Fe3O4), hematite (Fe2O3), goethite, limonite or siderite. Iron ore is usually rich in iron oxide and varies in color, from dark gray, light yellow, dark purple, to rusty red. At present, iron ore reserves appear to be large, but as iron use increases exponentially, these reserves start to decrease, as they remain.
In Indonesia, iron ore can only be exported for Fe content above 62%.
Iron ore in Lampung is abundant in Mount Tegak, South Lampung and Tanggamus. Produknya umunya yang kandungan konsentrat Fe nya 53%,57 % dan 62 %.
