Here is my entry for breakfast challenge by @Ssiddharth2000
.
Pune city offers a variety of breakfast that includes typical Maharashtrian flavors along with good options in south indian dishes. A classic Puneri morning often begins with a plate of kanda poha, misal pav, sheera , dosa, idli sambar—perfect to kick-start the day.
But beyond these lies another gem in the city’s culinary crown—Irani breakfast.
Irani cafés are known for their timeless charm and soulful food. There are many Irani cafes in pune- cafe goodluck, cafe yezdan, cafe vohuman etc and ofcourse many outlets of Irani cafe. They are famous for Irani chai, bun maska, and a variety of egg and bread combinations and bakery products etc.
Check the menu here
Yesterday, I visit an Irani café located at Koregaon park and like always, I order their freshly baked bun maska, chicken sandwich, and a hot cup of Irani chai. The soft, buttery bun, the flavorful sandwich, and the strong, sweet chai create a comforting start to the day.
So, if you’re ever in Pune and likes to have nonveg/egg in breakfast do visit the charming Irani cafes.
Note: They have veg options too!

This is such a tempting and well-rounded entry @Durgak03 for the breakfast challenge by @Ssiddharth2000 ji.
Irani cafés truly bring a nostalgic charm to Pune’s breakfast scene—bun maska and chai are unbeatable classics. Among all the dishes you’ve tried so far, which one would you call your absolute favorite and why?
Irani cafes are our favorite in Pune @Durgak03
We had a meetup as well, there.
Did you attend the meetup in the Aga Khan Palace?
Let’s go to a Irani cafe in our next meetup.
Thank you @NandKK
Plain Bun maska is my favourite, i enjoy it with tea. It is a soft bun with butter inside and tastes yum. They even serve bun with jam or cheese.
Excellent post on a historical place @Durgak03 Thank you for participating in my challenge. I have heard so much about these Irani cafes, their dishes seems to be very tempting, from the simple yet soulful Bun Maska and chai, to the delicious Chicken keema. The pictures are amazing and capture the essence of Irani cafes.
