I was invited to be a local guide on my main profile. I have over 4,200 + approved and accurate edits. I keep getting an error that says “Sorry, we’re temporarily unable to enroll you in the Local Guides program.” (1st screenshot). THEN, when I tried to submit help like I’m doing right now, I’m stuck on my profile and preferences and can’t get out. I’m forced to use my other Google account right now to post this. (Second screenshot). Help!!
Hi @NickBuffalo
I recommend you delete this second account as soon as your issue is resolved.
Kindly share the link to your primary profile on Google Maps and here on Connect and I will be happy to take a look.
Cheers
Morten
My main profile is I have no problem deleting this one once the problem is resolved on my main profile.
It would be beneficial if you would use the tagging tool when replying to someone here on Connect. Type @ followed by the username. Type slowly. Then we get an e-mail notification and you are more likely to get a prompt reply.
I found the two links:
https://www.google.com/maps/contrib/104565070008699931691/
https://www.localguidesconnect.com/t5/user/viewprofilepage/user-id/1546022
Unfortunately, I’m convinced that your problems are sure to the fact that you have been suspended from the Local Guides program.
Suspended local guides can find help in my tutorial called How to Get In and Out of Trouble as a Local Guide.
Remember:
- It might not be possible to get unsuspended
- It can be a lot of work cleaning up whatever mistakes were made
- You may need to use an incognito window/tab to view the posts in my tutorial.
Best of luck
Morten
Your profile is set to restricted. If you want help to spot what could be the cause of your suspension, you need to change your privacy setting as explained here temporarily. Please note, that you need to use an app since this can not be don’t from a Desktop.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you so much for your assistance. I made sure that I didn’t like any of my reviews. I also changed my profile privacy settings. My reviews are honest and do not attack anyone personally. I’m at a loss as to why I would be suspended before even joining? I didn’t receive any notification. And, with over 4,300 * approved edits, I’ve done a lot of good.
It is never fun to face a suspension.
Your contributions are still not visible. Please double-check that you made your profile unrestricted.
It could be that they are all hidden, but this would be a first for me.
All the best
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen I went on my profile and changed the bullet to “All.” So I’m not sure why this is happening? This whole situation is very annoying, and also strange, because there is no explanation. I’m also still able to make edits to Maps, with most of them being approved right away. This is because I always submit accurate information. This whole situation is very frustrating!
Please share a screenshot from your restricted profile setting and make sure you are using your old account.
There is nothing unusual with being able to make edits. You are suspended from the Local Guides Program and not as a Maps user. Also, Google will not notify us about sanctions. That is just the way it is (not to help spammers).
Morten
I just asked to follow you on Google Maps. If you accept this I might be abke to see your contributions.
Cheers
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen attached
@MortenCopenhagen I didn’t see where to allow this?
Wrong place, @NickBuffalo
It is in the settings in your Google Maps app (not the desktop version).
Please see this link
Cheers
Morten
@MortenCopenhagen all set now.
Thanks. I can now view your public reviews.
First sentence I see:
“Horrid for health insurance. I worked for them briefly.”
Please avoid such negative and emotional words as Horrid. I also saw you used the word nasty.
Secondly, if you read the guidelines you accepted while signing up as a local guide. You would have known that we can not review our current and former employers.
This violation in it self could be the reason you got suspended.
Please read my post on typical review guideline violations found here. And remove issues mentioned in the post in your reviews.
Your negative reviews are extremely negative. I try to also include aspects that will motivate the owner to make improvements. Everything can not be so negative. Some of them seems to be a kind af revenge reviews.
What you shared about
Father Bart is certainly a personal attack, which you know are over the limit.
Clean up your reviews and then follow my instructions in the suspension tutorial for the appeals process.
Best of luck
Morten
Hi @NickBuffalo ,
I see that your question has been answered.
By the way, I’ve moved your post to How-tos. Feel free to check it out.
Hello @NickBuffalo ,
I just wanted to let you know that I removed the accepted solution from your post because it doesn’t answer any question or doesn’t solve any issue you might have.
The purpose of this feature is to help Local Guides find answers when searching on the Connect. Please take a look at: How do I mark comments as solutions? article.
@TsekoV I really want to just remove this entire post, but I don’t know how to. Trying to resolve it or fight it is going to be a lot of time and aggravation.
