Introducing hidden sustainability features in Japan travel through place reviews

I love sharing hidden sustainability features at destinations, ethically innovative business models and products, or more sustainable food and drink options to Japan-based residents and travelers.

For example, the Chocolate factory and cafe, FOO, in Hiroshima airport really impressed me with its women empowerment, fair-trade, vegan, full-circle business model. It is unlikely new visitors or residents who don’t yet read or communicate in Japanese would be able to work out the full extent of how sustainably-minded FOO is, yet that is a critical aspect of their business model which many potential customers would be attracted to.

Sustainability is about balancing the needs of local people, the environment and profits- it is more than just about reducing the environmental impact- it’s also about appreciation of heritage and culture. This may be a new feature that google guides could contribute to which would help visitors appreciate and experience travel in Japan on a deeper level.

I really feel lucky to be in a position where I can be an inbound ambassador here in Japan working between the international customer and great local staff offering superior products and services.
