Introduce Yourself — November 2025

Hi!

My name is Greg and I’m from the US. I got the travel bug 10 years ago after a trip to Rustenburg South Africa. Did a week solo on a motorcycle in Australia camping along the coast through Victoria and New South Wales.

A lot of time wet and miserable on a motorcycle and/or camping but then you get to see something like this and it’s all worth it.

Hello @Diana_R ,

nice to see you. :waving_hand:

Hello Everyone,

This is Chef Ashish Singh chandel

Hello all, I am a native New Yorker who loves to review things relative to what I hope people are looking for? It has become a little hobby of mine and I take real pride in bringing my reviews to you🙋

1. Name: Sophat CHY (@SophatCHY)

I’m a Cambodian digital content creator, traveller, and community organiser who has been mapping Cambodia for many years. I started using Google Maps in 2010 and created Street View with just my phone. Since then, I’ve travelled across the country by motorbike, documenting nature, culture, and authentic community stories.
I work with the Cambodia Local Guides Community to improve Maps, fix wrong locations, organise Mega Edit Marathons, and help new Guides learn how to contribute. Outside of Maps, I create travel videos, promote digital literacy, and explore new places every month.

2. Location: Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Phnom Penh is the capital of Cambodia — a busy and growing city where tradition and modern life come together. You can find street food, markets, community events, the Royal Palace, the riverside, and many new creative spaces.
From Phnom Penh, all the provinces connect easily, so it’s the starting point for my long trips into the mountains, waterfalls, villages, and coastal areas.
Cambodia is a country full of beauty — culture, food, forests, and friendly people — and I enjoy showing these places on Google Maps so more people can experience them.

3. What I love about being a Local Guide:

Being a Local Guide helps me show the real Cambodia. Every edit, photo, and correction supports travellers, local communities, and small businesses.
I enjoy travelling to remote areas and adding places that haven’t been added yet. I want Cambodia to be represented clearly and accurately for everyone around the world.

4. My favourite thing to explore:

I love road trips on my motorbike — mountains, new roads, small villages, hidden temples, waterfalls, and local food spots.
I enjoy meeting people and learning stories from every place I visit. I like to explore slowly and deeply, taking photos and videos and updating the map along the way.

5. Fun fact about me:

I first learned about the Local Guides program in 2016, but I became truly active in the last 6+ months.
I’m now a Level 9 Local Guide, with thousands of edits, 54,000+ km of motorbike travel, and many community activities completed.
Every time I travel, I always check:
“Is this on Google Maps? If not, I will add it.”

Special Note to Cambodia Local Guides

We have many active Local Guides in Cambodia, and I want to invite everyone to share their story, too.

Here are some of the excellent Local Guides from our community:

If you see your name here, I’d love to hear your introduction too — your story, where you’re from, and what you enjoy exploring in Cambodia.

Let’s keep the Cambodia Local Guides community active and growing.

1. Introduction

My name is Heng, and I’ve been a Google Local Guide since 2018. I grew up in a remote village with no proper roads, no internet, and no Google Maps. That’s why I’m passionate about adding missing places and helping people discover my village and other areas across Cambodia. This drive has kept me consistently active over the years. I travel often and contribute whenever I can. Most of my reviews highlight pricing, food quality, overall experience, and service. I rarely cover high-end or luxury spots — if you follow my profile, you’ll see that my focus is on practical, useful insights for everyday users.

2. Why Local Guides Matter

Being a Local Guide in Cambodia is meaningful because it allows me to contribute to the community and support local development. I help by adding new places, updating information, reviewing locations, and sharing useful photos. Whether traveling alone or with family, capturing and uploading accurate information to Google Maps is both enjoyable and impactful. With simple, clear descriptions and helpful notes, anyone can make a difference.

3. Conclusion

I hope more people will join in and contribute actively so that our community can continue to grow and benefit from shared knowledge. Thank you.

SengPheng - introducing myself

Hi Local Guide Connect Community! I’m Pheng Seng from Cambodia :cambodia:

Why Local Guide:

I knew the Local Guide in 2018 but not joined the platform yet. I start to active my account in LGC this year. I’m a Local Guide level 8 on a mission to showcase the beauty of Cambodia. As a contributor, I’m passionate about getting out and exploring my country, from scenic motorcycle rides to peaceful hikes. My focus is on sharing authentic reviews, photos, and videos of nature, cultural landmarks, and everything in between.

Mission and Contribution

My mission is contributions to the Google Maps to show the beauty of Cambodia destinations for the accurate view and engaging the visitor’s who search for the attractive places to visit in Cambodia. I review based on my experience of the places that I visited, and edit the Google Maps issues and missed the info.

I believe in sharing the world with others, and you can follow more of my adventures on my social media channels below this post.

Let’s connect each other. @Rthyvong @SophatCHY @JVanSd @Sophia_Cambodia @Makara_YEM

3. What I love about being a Local Guide:
I enjoy traveling and exploring delicious food, and I always take photos to document my experiences. Before every trip, I read reviews on Google Maps to help me plan my destinations. Being a Local Guide allows me to upload photos, videos, and reviews so more people can discover Taiwan’s beautiful scenery and amazing food.

4. My favorite thing to explore:
My favorite thing to explore is great food. I like visiting restaurants to enjoy meals, and when I’m busy, I use food delivery services to discover new places to eat. I rate restaurants based on their interior design, service quality, and how good the food tastes, and then give them an appropriate star rating. Sharing delicious food with people who appreciate the same things is truly an honor for me.

5. Fun Fact about me:
Besides food, I also love natural landscapes—such as waterfalls, sunsets, and flowers. I often visit these places by following directions found online. However, information isn’t always up to date, and sometimes old directions can lead me to the wrong place.

One time, I wanted to visit a riverside spot to see the night view. I followed the MRT information online, but after exiting the station, I realized I was surrounded by land instead of the river. It turned out the station name had changed, and the real station I needed was in the opposite direction. I felt frustrated and amused at the same time.

To avoid this kind of situation, I now always double-check the exact location or GPS coordinates. After finally reaching the riverside and enjoying the night view, I made sure to share the correct station name on Google Maps so the next traveler wouldn’t get lost.

My Local Guide journey started with one photo, one review, and a lot of curiosity. Since then, I’ve explored countless places, tasted amazing food, and shared real experiences so others can enjoy the best around them. Excited to keep discovering more—one location at a time.

Mostly, ai try to correct those locations which are placed wrong, as well as update any incorrect information.
