Hi everyone! Welcome to Local Guides Connect. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our community.
As “Introduce Yourself” threads can be lengthy, we start a new one each month and lock past threads. You can check past threads, like October’s, to see who recently joined and where they’re from (simply search for “Introduce Yourself”). If you’re new, please use this thread to post your “I’m new” or “Hello world” posts. We’ll merge any posts we find elsewhere with this thread to keep things organized.
3. What I love about being a Local Guide: I love to share my reviews because I know how important they are to Google Maps users and other Local Guides, who are looking for a place to have a cup of coffee, enjoy a meal, or just go shopping.
4. My favorite thing to explore: Places to have waffles and éclairs! I don’t have much of a sweet tooth, but when it comes to waffles and éclairs, I go crazy. My favorite things to explore are waffle places and different confectioneries where they make delicious éclairs and profiteroles.
5. Fun Fact about me: I have a house full of animals—three cats, a dog, a bird, and a turtle—even though I’m allergic to animal hair. They bring me so much happiness and I cannot imagine my home without them. I’m also a volunteer in an animal organization called Dare to Care.

I am a Local Guide of Level 8 of Bangladesh. I live in Dhaka, for working purpose. I am a Software Programmer and work in a ERP System. My Home town in Rangpur. But I have visited in many places in my country beacuse my father is a government employee who also love to travel too much.
By born I got a travelholic family. All the family members of my family is fond of making fun, tasting new foods and visiting new places. So I am not different. Moreover I like to share and make others know what I am doing. For this reason I have started to contribute on google maps. And I am now continuing my contributions on adding new places, photos, videos, edit information, check the facts, answer the questions and missing informations in maps. I like to attend meet ups and meet new Local Guides. I always tell my surroundings to get involved in volunteer works like this.
But I like most to contribute attractive and tasty foods picture and correct wrong information and update misiing informations. Because people who do not have the information while traveling, I know the pain of it. I think it is great human help. And every good work is highly appreciating to me. I think one day the blind people can walk normally on the road with the help of the Google Maps.
Most times, I wonder where the world would’ve been or what it would’ve looked like without a map. The era of asking people for directions has passed. Helping people reach their destinations safely and in time too is the best thing I’ve ever done. All thanks to google for this privilege of helping others. Am proud of being a local guide.
My name is Iryna and here is my story why I am proud to be a local guide.
I have been using Google maps for years and always liked sharing my experiences there – good and bad so that other people can enjoy really nice spots and avoid unnecessary disappointments. But the real commitment to being a local guide came only 3 years ago when I left my home country Ukraine and moved to a new country – Germany.
What does it take to change a country? Before I did it, I would say – not that much, but now I would say – it takes a lot! The list is long and starts with the most difficult things, like leaving friends and family. Then goes technical stuff like moving furniture and cloth to a new place, finding a new apartment, receiving residency, driving license and other important documents. And then quality-of-life things go – finding new friends, new favorite café, restaurant, the bench in the park; new hairdresser, new manicure lady, new doctor and hundreds of other new places, things and people that make your life settled. And with the help of thousands of people who took their time and shared their experiences on google maps, I do have everything I need to feel now home in my new home city Cologne. And now yes – I am proud to be a local guide and help people by sharing my experiences – good and bad so that other people like me can feel home in this city for whatever reason they came here
PS There is no place like home - all photos are taken in my home city Kiev.
It is beyond my expectation when i’m got a notification from google local guides that i’m in level 1, level 2 and then until know level 7…I say : whatttt? Since I’m first time using this app, I’m only trying to share little help for people about my review etc. that it’s, nothing else.
I love reading books, walking around and write something…and maybe through google local guides app to review every place i come or passing by, i found my expression to write a review and more …and i love it and feel enjoy…no matter become popular or not.

Si tienes cualquier duda puedes poner arroba y buscar mi nombre @AlejandraMaria . Así es como se etiqueta a un Guía Local y consigues llamar su atención porque aparece una notificación (como te habrá sucedido a ti con esta respuesta que he realizado)
I’m really glad to learn more about you. And I would like to say that we have something in common! I love cats so much and would like to give my hug every cat I meet.
In addition, I’m a sweet tooth and waffles and eclairs are my weakness toooo! I love to explore small cafes to find a delicious and beautiful dessert!
Thanks so much for sharing with us your personal experience as a Local Guide.
I would like to let you know that I’m going to merge your post to the introduce yourself post for November where the Local Guides who are new in the community go to say “Hi” to everyone!
Loved your smile and good to know you’re also an animal lover.
