Hi everyone! Welcome to Local Guides Connect. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to our community.
As “Introduce Yourself” threads can be lengthy, we start a new one each month and lock past threads. You can check past threads, like January’s, to see who recently joined and where they’re from (simply search for “Introduce Yourself”). We’ll merge any “I’m new” and “Hello world” posts we find elsewhere with this thread to keep things organized.
In January, we saw so many amazing introductions by both new and more experienced members of our community here on Connect. This month, meet @rizzo ! Scott is a Local Guide Level 4, and here’s what they shared about themselves.
1. Name: Scott Rizzo2. Location: Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
3. What I love about being a Local Guide: It lends credence to my reviews. Sometimes, when you’re looking at reviews of a business or restaurant, you can’t be 100% sure that some of them didn’t come from the business itself or that the business didn’t ask someone to provide the rating, especially when some of the raters have rated only that business.
But when you see “Local Guide” attached to the review, not only can you rest assured that the rating is independent of the business itself, but that the rater has a vested interest in ensuring that ratings applied to businesses are authentic.
4. My favorite thing to explore: Mountains, nature trails, national parks. I used to live in Bar Harbor, Maine, and I spent much of the time I lived there exploring every inch of the carriage trails in Acadia National Park, riding my recumbent bike up Cadillac Mountain, and snowboarding in the many mountain resorts Maine has to offer (Sugarloaf was my happy place!).
Now that I live in Pennsylvania, replace Acadia National Park carriage trails with the Montour and Panhandle Trails and the Great Allegheny Passage and swap Sugarloaf Mountain with Seven Springs or Hidden Valley.
5. Fun Fact about me: I once discovered that I am a distant relative of Ashley Tisdale due to the second marriage of my great uncle to one of her distant cousins. As a result, her first two pop albums became the soundtrack of my travels through Acadia National Park.
Nice to meet you, Scott! Local Guides, don’t miss the chance to say hi to Scott in the comments below.
