BD Cyclist (BDC) is the mother platform that makes cycling too much popular in our country (Bangladesh). Basically, cycle is used as a mood of transport. BDC focus on that! As you know, Dhaka is a city of huge traffic. Every day thousands of working hours are being lost only because of over traffic.
BDC starts in 2011 with a single man named Mozammel Haque who felt he should use a bicycle instead of car or bus to go to the office as traffic killed more than two hours of his daily life. Later tons of people join this movement like Mainul Islam Rahat, Fuad Ahsan Chowdhury and many more! Now, BDC has 126K members with some amazing admin and volunteers all over Bangladesh and the world!
BDC has several kinds of rides as like âBeginnersâ Lessonâ where every week 15-20 people (mostly women and kids) get the chance to learn cycling for free! âBike Fridayâ âJosshila Saturdayâ âBijoy Ride (Celebration for our victory!)â âPohela Boisakh Ride! (A ride to celebrate Bangla New Year)â âShadhinota Dibosh Ride (Celebration ride for our Independence!)â â64 good actsâ and many more!
In this article, I want to talk about âShadhinota Dibosh Ride 2019â This year mist of cyclist was so excited because âBijoy Rideâ of last year (16 Dec) didnât happen due to the national election and other means.
From the very early morning, people start coming to the meeting place in front of our national parliament house.

The official number of the cyclists is yet to come but it was assumed more than three thousand (3,000) cyclists were on that ride. The ride was around 14 km with around 10 km/h speed. The route follows-- Manik Mia Avenue> Khejur Bagan> Bijoy Sarani> Jahangir gate> Mohakhali> Gulshan 1> Hatir jheel> Karwan Bazar> Farmgate> Manik Mia Avenue.
