- What is the most interesting thing you’ve done as a Local Guide?
- What does the Local Guides program mean to you?
So I have been a local guide since i had my first phone i guess, the thing is that at that time i didnt do anything worth sharing until i traveled to study abroad in Madrid, Spain.
I traveled a lot and that´s when i found the real value on sharing my findings. I found out that there are many hidden gems on every town you visit and you wont find them on tours or vacation panphlets. You must do the search on your own. And that is how i found out about the only Mazinger Z replica in Tarragona, Spain.
Mazinger Z was my first ever favorite cartoon since my childhood and when i “accidentally” found out about the statue on google maps i knew i had to go and meet him. I rented a car with a couple of my friends from Mexico and went to the small town just for that purpose. It was nonsense, useless but i loved every second of it. I would do it again with no doubt.
So being a local guide is a big responsability because i know its in my hands to share this kind of experiences to other travlers. An ugly and old statue was so magical for me and that kind of experience doesnt have any price at all (well unless you count the rent for the car) but if nobody else is seeing the same kind of magic on many places, its my duty to find it and let the world know about it.
More magic to come as a local guide for sure
