Without naming the restaurant(since it has improved it’s service a lot and is now doing great), I would like to share an incident of what is the most interesting thing I did as a local guide.
I, along with my family, was visiting a renowned restaurant which serves one of the best if not the best Biryanis in Hyderabad. As soon as I entered I heard loud argument between the management and one of the families who were having dinner there. The issue was that the family was a vegetarian family and they have got a piece of chicken in their biryani. Being a vegetarian myself, I can understand what was going through the family.
The manager was reckless and reluctant to take notice of the issue and I too was furious. I immediately intervened and informed the manager that I am a google local guide of some reputation and I will make sure that this rude, reckless behavior reflects in their review. First the manager was reluctant to even listen to me but later I started asking if there are anymore local guides there and they should help us.
A couple of fellow local guides came to my help and then we all have collectively opposed his behavior. Then because there was no choice, the manager has agreed to not charge the family and apologized to them for their irresponsible service.
After going home I contacted their Managing Director about this. He apologized and promised that he will take care of it. A month or so later when I visited the restaurant again I saw a change in the staff’s behavior towards customers. They were courteous and the service was very good.
That day I felt that I really have contributed towards improvement of business being a local guide.
