Can we insert citation information into Connect articles?
Wouldn’t this fall under the category of advertisements and promotions regulated by Connect?
Does anyone know about it?

Yes, It is possible @YasumiKikuchi
First, it is clear that we should write genuine articles on Connect and shouldn’t copy the whole content from other resources. But sometimes in our articles, we quote phrases from other sources, or we need to refer to the resource for more info. This is not only allowed but also appreciated. Connect is for good people and one of the fundamental behaviors of good users is respecting others’ rights about using their content.
The main point about not being considered as advertising content is the goal and the topic of our post. If we post to make the Connect reach with valuable content that fits in the main topics, then it is permitted and appreciated to use citations.
You know this is somehow like introducing a local business on Connect. If our goal is only promoting that business, our content will be considered advertising, but if we’re going to share our good feelings and experiences with others, then it does not count as advertising.
Hi @YasumiKikuchi and @Amiran !
You have to follow indication by @DeniGu from this post: How do I follow the original content guidelines on Connect?
Bye,
David
Hi @davidhyno My comment has the same meaning as the official post, but thanks for mentioning it.
Hello @Amiran @davidhyno , thanks for giving me advice!
I seem to have forgotten about a Google post I once read.
I have another question. Is it okay to quote the URL of a company or product?
I think it is not a professional activity to quote a URL itself inside an article, instead of using a hyperlink. Except when we want to pay attention to the URL itself. And this special case (discussing a URL itself) doesn’t fit within the Connect purposes and guidelines in most cases, except (for example) referring to a Google Help Center article.
Hello again dears @Amiran and @YasumiKikuchi ! I agree with what was expressed by Amiran!
Bye,
David
Hi @Amiran @davidhyno ,
Sorry I didn’t explain the question well enough, I wasn’t asking a technical issue, but could we cite companies and products here for article explanation? Are hyperlinks allowed? My prediction is that it won’t be possible.
Sure we could @YasumiKikuchi and we should do it when we’re using their content.
But all things depend on our goal of writing an article/comment and the goal of using the hyperlink.
If we’re posting something to share our experience and thoughts with others and we also need to refer something from somewhere else (even a company’s website) it is pretty good to do this.
But if we’re writing an article/comment only to include the link to a business website to promote it, then it is not allowed.
HI @YasumiKikuchi !
For me there are no problems, the important thing is that there is no personal compensation from this activity for the purpose of your post on Connect!
Take HelloJess’ post for sponsored meet-ups as a reference: Guidelines for hosting a sponsored meet-up .
We as LocalGuide cannot accept compensation of any nature in exchange for a good review or photo service, but if our “real” experience in that place is genuine then I don’t see any problem directly indicating this activity that particularly impressed you.
However, we await further comparisons and opinions dear Yasumi!
Bye,
David
Hi @Amiran @davidhyno , thank you for your detailed answer!
I was almost cleared. I tried to clarify this issue because I want to work seriously to create articles that are useful to Google and the members of the guide. I have come to the realization that if it is a non-profit, there is no problem as long as it is a company introduction to a certain extent.
I would like to continue receiving opinions on this issue. thank you!
