Insects in macro

Took a short walk today to one of my favourite spots on the stunning wirral peninsula here in the uk, camera in hand with my 60mm macro lens to look at the beauty of the insects.

I find them fascinating with the colours and how they move and fly. You need a lot of patience to photograph them but hard work gives an end product the first hoverfly below is about 6mm in length and I struggle to identify it in my book, the two yellow flys are from the nomad bee family but again cannot find what species the last is Rhingia rostrata and is at its limits on the northern edge of its habitat this is the female. Hope you enjoy the detail in the form as i do.

Hi @Hgog ,

I am impressed by your photos! You captured them so well that I can see every detail of the insects. When I take shots of insects, I love also to explore them so I am searching in Google for more information, it’s really interesting, but sometimes I also cannot find different species.

Thanks for the nice photos! :slightly_smiling_face:

The black bee is from San Jose, California.

well @PoliMC thats where google is so valuable as i google the images of what I’m looking at after the photograph, i do also have books, the thing is for me there are so many out there to enjoy you really dont have to go far even if you live in a high rise all you need is flowers or a window box to enjoy and photograph.

i use google almost everyday for my information on them along with my friends, they are so wonderful to watch and they actually have a timetable that they follow on their day.

If i can help in anyway with tips and how to photograph them please ask.

Neil
