Bou Bhat or Khuder Bhat is a very old and traditional recipe of our rural Bangldesh. The small pieces that were obtained by breaking the rice and sifting the rice are called Khud. Its taste is unique with various fillings, fried eggs or meat broth. Many people also eat this food for breakfast.
Insar Ali’s hotel in Ruhitpur, Keraniganj, Dhaka. Two tin houses on either side of the road. One is old. Inside, the tin is rusty and dirty. There are four or five small tables and benches for sitting. People are sitting there, gulping down their rice. The house on the other side of the narrow road is new. It’s clean too. I also sat down to eat.
Insar Ali serves Khuder Bhat with various mashed items. This rice made from polao rice is also very tasty to eat. Special Khuder Bhat has mashed items like black cumin, chili, mustard, coriander leaves and potatoes. It is accompanied by special fried eggs.
Due to to social media, the fame of Insar Ali’s Khuder Bhat slowly spread far and wide. Currently, a plate of rice and six dishes costs 40 taka. If you add fried eggs, the price will be 60 taka. On holidays, beef and chicken are also served. The prices are 160 taka and 70 taka per bowl, respectively.
The hotel serves food and drinks from 6 am to 8 pm every day.

How to go : One can easily reach Rohitpur in Keraniganj by taking a bus from Gulistan in Dhaka to Nawabganj. One can also reach there by crossing Atibazar via the Bachila Bridge in Mohammadpur. It is a ten-minute auto-rickshaw ride from Rohitpur Bazar to Insar Ali’s Khuder Bhater Hotel.
