Hey guys,
I have been living in Indonesia for the better part of 2 years now and have gotten to know the locals quite well. Where I stay, (Gading Serpong) is south west of Jakarta and having tried to mingle with the locals for quite a bit, have come to like some of the food I taste here. Some of the food I am sure are really different compared to others. You will not find some of what we find here anywhere else in the world.
Indonesia culinary culture has a special segment on its on solely dedicated to street food. Unlike in Thailand or Taiwan, street food here is arbitrary and not organized at all. You could find them from up market markets to the back alleys of a residential streets. Some of them trot them around in mobile carts called gerobak.
Me and my friends decided to start sharing some of these local recipes to share to the world. I am sharing a video we made here. It is a local favourite called Bakwan Jagung (Corn Fritters). It is quite the local favourite made using corn and flour.
While its done in Indonesia, you can try following the video’s pictorials. Hopefully will get to add some English instructions in time to come.
Enjoy and let me know if there are anything we can improve on.
Cheers!
