Hello Local Guides! I’m pretty sure that almost everyone I know here are fans of chocolate. Chocolate is a mood booster. Many people find eating chocolate promotes positive feelings. Chocolate, whether it is solid, liquid, dark or milk, makes us happy. Do you know that Indonesia is the world’s third largest producer of cocoa beans?
I want to introduce Pipiltin Cocoa, one of the best Indonesian chocolate producers. Pipiltin use cocoa beans sourced from several regions in Indonesia, including Aceh, East Java, Bali, Flores, and West Papua. They work with the local farmers to help them improve their production process and increase their income. The good thing is we don’t have to travel to all over Indonesia because Pipiltin provides Indonesian single origin chocolate. They harvest cocoa beans in one region and use only those beans to create each of their chocolate products. Each cocoa bean used has their own characteristics. For example, cocoa beans from Bali have fruity and caramel flavors, while cocoa beans from Flores have coffee and orange-like flavors.
I have purchased Pipiltin’s chocolate products a couple of times from online store, but I have never visited their offline store. Last weekend, I went to Grand Indonesia shopping mall and paid a visit to Pipiltin Cocoa outlet. There are many selections on display such as chocolate bars, chocolate drinks, honeycomb chocolate, cookies, and fudgy brownie premix. I bought four pieces of chocolate bars and a marshmallow dark chocolate soft cookie. Pipiltin’s chocolate bar varieties include macadamia nut, seasalt and almond, caramel crunch, coffee bean, and potato chips.
I just found out they have two outlets in Grand Indonesia. Both are listed on Google Maps, but turned out that there was no single review and photo of the outlet I visited. I took some photos, wrote review, and edited the inaccurate location detail. My edit is now being reviewed. Meanwhile, you can read my review here.
Overall, Pipiltin is very recommended. They offer Indonesian single origin chocolate products which are really interesting to try. And if you are more of a dark chocolate lover, then Pipiltin has the right chocolate for you. Their chocolate products mostly contain 65-84% cocoa and less sugar which results in a more bitter taste. I also love the packaging papers they used. Pleasantly simple and pretty with Indonesian flora and fauna illustrations.
