Indonesia Travel Bucket List Natuna 6 : Russian Stone One of the phenomenal stones in Natuna Regency

Batu Russia is a historical heritage located in Natuna district, namely in the roadside area towards Desa Sepempang approximately 3.5km from the city of Ranai, or less more than 15 minutes if taken by 2-wheeled or 4-wheeled vehicles, precisely in the Beringin Jaya sub-village, Sepampang Village, East Bunguran District.

The history of Russian rock dates back to 1941-1952, namely the Government of Datuk Kaya Wan Muhammad Rasyid who was appointed by the Sultan of Riau. It began with the breakup of a Russian ship because it ran aground in front of the island of Senoa.

While waiting for help, they rested on the edge of the beach precisely on a large rock, Because the help did not come, they left a writing bearing the anchor by carving the stone.

They walked to Ranai asking for help from Tok Kaya Wan Muhammad Rasyid, who at that time served as a rich man in a rich island (This is written in the information on the Russian Stone inscription in East Bunguran District)

There are a number of words engraved in Batu russia including Indonesian and Russian sentences, some examples of written words such as “Goodbye” and there are “USSR” sculptures that have a larger size than others, so far the writings it can still be found in Russian rock, although some are seen blurry.

How do I become a Local Guides to promote Indonesian tourism (Indonesia Travel Bucket List Stories : Local Guides X Indonesian Ministry Of Tourism)

The name of the program is “SUSUR NUSANTARA” has a special agenda to revitalize the existence of tourist spots in Indonesia that are less exposed on social media. The West Side’s fame on social media is far less than the East side’s fame, where hashtags with locations in Bali, NTB, Sulawesi and Papua are always crowded with posts by local and international netizens.

I along with the team explored 8 destinations that are rarely exposed in Indonesia. I was officially invited to collaborate because I am a co-founder of Indonesia’s largest media on Instagram, @ExploreIndonesia, and also I am an alumni of the 2017 Local Guides Summit who are very active in helping local tourism in my residential areas, Sidoarjo and Surabaya.

Not only that, my job there is to photograph the beauty of the natural, cultural and regional heritage there. But it also helps to update the location with updated points of tourist attractions on Google Maps with the Local Guides program and Street View Trusted Photographer so that it will get maximum results.

My goal for sharing this story is to show my experience when traveling to unique places in Indonesia. And also helps provide insight to other global Local Guides friends. So, I will write my stories through the title “Indonesia Travel Bucket List Stories”.

Hopefully, one day, officially, @ExploreIndonesia and the Google Local Guides program also Google Maps can collaborate in Indonesia.

According to the local legend stories around, the sailors were helped and fed by local residents. Afterwards, the sailors returned to Russia again.

Very interesting story @FahmiAdimara , thanks for sharing!

I’m learning about so many great sites in Indonesia from you, and this one is only a short travel away from the city.

I find it very fascinating that the rock has been kept as an attraction, and it must be funny to suddenly find a piece of Russian history in Indonesia.
