Incorrect Tooltip Date (01/01/1970) on Road Edits

Hi @khmansour1,
I also noticed similar orange dotted lines in several places across Portugal while adding missing roads, but all of these submissions have unusual dates, such as 01/01/1970.

I suspect they might have been added by an internal Google Maps team to improve mapping accuracy, or those orange dotted lines are just for a transition period while the team works on them.

In one of my photos below near Faro International Airport in Portugal. I have seen that those orange dotted lines have already disappeared.

That’s just my guess, though!

The dotted lines aren’t unusual, @Roman_Ahmmed. Those very old dates are.

I don’t think so, AI is more clever and I have a notice his intervenience in my post.

All such thing in my country I think make by human playing/testing. You can click on them and report them as inappropriate

@khmansour1 , I checked the roads that were edited a week ago. Today, I edited a road and verified that the date is displayed correctly.

Hi ,

I’ve noticed a sudden surge in the daily total of approved road edits starting yesterday (October 6, 2026), according to tracking data on Roaders Club and Local Guides Ranking.

I’m not sure if this spike is related to the ongoing date display bug or a broader system update. Could you also clarify what will happen to our road edits that were incorrectly stamped with the 1970 date? Will those timestamps be automatically retrofitted to their actual submission dates?
