I have been a reviewer for eight years. I didn’t add too many reviews, around 70.
Some time ago, I lost my account, deleted everything, and wanted to start over because I like adding reviews—it brings me great joy when I can share with others where I’ve been and upload photos. It is also a form of keepsake for me and something I love doing as a hobby.
Two days ago, I started publishing my old reviews, attaching detailed descriptions and photos, just like I did previously. I noticed that after some time, Google started treating me like a bot, which I am not. It started filtering my data, and fortunately, after two days, I see that all reviews on Google have been added correctly, except for two, which is not a problem for me at all. The only thing I noticed is that right now I have 72 or 74 reviews added, but next to my nickname it says that I have only added 4. Will all of this filter out after some time and this error fix itself, or how else can this be fixed? It is a bit frustrating for me that despite adding reviews that are visible, it still shows four reviews next to my nickname, even though my Local Guide level is level 6
I also noticed that categories and the view count on photos are not updating. I also noticed on my profile that despite giving star ratings to other places, my level is equal to zero, and I don’t understand why either.
Does all of this simply require filtering and will the system process this data after some time, or is it simply a permanent error that will remain like this?
Hello @JuliannaSi welcome to the Local Guides Connect community!
Where exactly did you see incorrect statistics? Using the mobile Maps app on Android or iPhone or a desktop browser. A screenshot might help to understand, what exactly you mean.
Using the desktop, I can see you contributed 289 photos, 7 videos and 74 reviews and all of them are public, which is very good and not always the case for many other local guides.
Regarding
Until February 2024, we always saw some views (a dozen plus/minus) within minutes after uploading for each single photo or video. This doesn’t happen anymore. Instead you may see some views in rare cases within a couple of days, but for most of the media you may have to wait several weeks or even months. Also the number of views for all media are now much less compared to those uploaded before 2024.
Yes, you are right. These stats match—if you go to my profile, everything seems to be in order with over 70 reviews and Level 6 status, so that is all okay. However, if you go to a review and see my username, next to my username it shows that I have only added 4 reviews. And that doesn’t match. It should be 74.
It also doesn’t count views, if someone has seen my review.
I wonder if these statistical data will eventually refresh and be updated, or if it will remain like this and no longer be counted?
You mentioned you started over with a new account. In that case I would recommend you make sure to delete your reviews and photos from your old account before reuploading them under your new account.
The spamfilters are sharp on picking up on redundancy.
I recovered my old account, deleted the reviews, and simply added them again:))
. I only use one account. I made a major update to my reviews, adding photos and extensive descriptions of my experiences. Too many posts simply appeared in a single day, which is why I might have been mistaken for a bot, but I am not a bot, so it seems to me that all of this must be filtered by the system and I hope that everything will finally start working normally. Every review that I add is my experience and I have been to every single one of those places. In any other case, if I go to a restaurant, I add a review on average three times a week, rather than a dozen in a single day. Thank you everyone for your help. For now, I am a bit calmer. My account is doing well. Thank you everyone for the advice :))
Welcome to Connect, @JuliannaSi
I don’t see any issues in your account, but due to the fact that there are more than 500 million of Local Guides all around the world, the data about our contributions are stored in different servers, and are not instantly synchronized.
72 of your 74 reviews were added in the last 24/36 hours, so the counters should be updated in at least 24 hours, and you will see them most probably tomorrow. The counter of the views will update a few days later.
However, be careful on adding so many reviews in a so short time: the filter can consider you a bot, or a spammer, and starts to block them
I know that now, but I didn’t realize it before I wouldn’t have guessed the system might flag me as spam just for adding photos and detailed descriptions to my reviews. I’m pretty much up to speed now and will be very careful about how often I add these reviews. Thanks for the good point
